Schapelle Corby found guilty
On Friday 27 May, an Indonesian court found Schapelle Leigh Corby guilty of drug smuggling and sentenced her to 20 years imprisonment.
One wonders whether this woman is guilty, or innocent. Was she guilty because of the australian communitys going against the Balinese governements? Or was she guilty because of poor police observations? Schapelle Corby is a victim of forces beyond her control.4.1 kilograms of marijuana came to be in Schapelle's boogie board bag when she landed at Denpasar airport in October last year. Her plea to the courts that these drugs were not her own obviously did not reach the ears of the Balinese judges as these men could not speak english.
What has shocked her home country is that a person from Mexico "smuggled" 15 kilograms into Bali. Their sentence? Seven years in jail. The bomb plotters of the bali bombings on the 12th of October, 2002 were sentenced to jail. How long? For two and a half years. Does anybody else find this a touch on the dodge side?
Whether she is guilty or not, I dont know. But i do know that you can go around the corner in Bali of any local town and you can get drugs of any kind for five bucks. Now who would try to smuggle in marijuana when you can just get it round the corner?
People around are saying we should boycott Bali. I dont think we should. The balinese people did not send her to prison, they are just trying to live their lives and the tourist industry is the only way to survive.
On the 10th of July, Schapelle's 28th birthday, people all over Australia will be going on a March so Schapelle can come home.
My opinion on this whole matter? I dont know whether Schapelle is guilty or not. But I do know that her trial was unfair. Her sentence is too long, her chance of a family and career has been stripped away from her just because her trial was unjust.
Schapelle Corby, set her free...

I agree... the trial was totally unfair...
The sad thing is that if she were to murder 200 innocent bystanders in cold blood, she would have only gotten 4 years max (Bali Bombers).
It shows just how twisted society is these days...
